We all know that our lives are full
of making decisions. And admit it, this is the hardest thing to do because we
make sacrifices either for ourselves or for somebody else. We have to choose
one between where we should be and where we want to be. For instance, what if
you have to select only one between the most important thing to you and
something that makes you happy, what will you choose? You find it hard, right? Or we can just simply say it, your responsibility or your beloved? Habitually, we decide through our feelings that we do
not know the reason why we should choose what we want. Moreover, most of us
have already encountered a lot of this situation.
“I feel it’s not right, I do not
know why but I have a feeling that it is wrong,” which rings true for those
people who are confused if they should follow their hearts and minds. Our feelings and thoughts have a huge
difference. Our mind contradicts our heart’s wants and desires. They pull us on
their own points. Until our minds stop thinking and we will be dependent on our
feelings.
Meanwhile, there are people who
still prefer to their thoughts. They really do not follow their feelings
because they do not believe enough. The reason why is lack of evidence or there
is no proof for them to convinced. However, a proof is not essential for us to
believe, resembling what William Shakespeare wants to convey us on his quotes
“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, And therefore is winged Cupid
painted blind.” What matters is to believe in our own beliefs.
“Don’t make a permanent decision for your temporary feelings and emotions.” This quote makes senses to us. Nevertheless, what if these feelings are better than what we think. In making decisions, we do not have to consider the outcome and the process. We do not have to think that it will be difficult and painful after, because soon, we can cope with that. As Psyche did, she took all the trials of Venus to show that she really love Cupid. And the necessary thing to do is just focus on our desires that make us happy where nobody is unaffected.
